Are you the same piglet who worried so much about DiCaprio being snubbed for The Departed because he was competing with his performance in Blood Diamond? If so, welcome back.

@ Kim, It does appear that the movie may be divisive -- some love it, so hate it. That's typical for Scorsese anyway. But Leo and the screenplay have gotten raves - even from those who didn't like the film (aside from that "publicist" Wells mentioned), so I'm not sure why NY and LA didn't have much live for at least DiCaprio and Winter.

Off topic but Leo should of EASILY been nominated for The Departed instead of Blood Diamond. That will always boggle my mind. Matt Damon should of been nominated for more awards too, he was really good.
piglet-I agree. Even those who dislike the Leo/Marty collaborations or aren't fans of the cast have even said they loved the movie and acting in it. I'm glad it's gotten the raves it has, but the lack of major recognition so far is a bit worrisome. I don't think Jonah has received any nominations or notices yet either. But then again we have to remember the LAFCA didn't reward The Departed at all, it didn't even receive a single runner up mention either. Maybe they just aren't fans. Regarding NYFCC, didn't they also see it late? I'm guessing its lack of presence there could be because of that+and they just didn't care for it.

@arnzilla. Yes, one in the same. You can see I'm stressed this year too. I've heard ludes are good tranquilizer so maybe I should try some. LOL.

kim, yeah, maybe LA doesn't like Scorsese. I know he's had trouble with New York critics before.

Kristopher Tapley @kristapley There are no Wolf screeners for SAG because Paramount got the film way too late for that. Was never part of the plan.
Kristopher Tapley @kristapley Don’t blame a studio for “dropping the ball” when the truly (though equally undeserving) object of your ire should be a measured filmmaker.
Looks like the actors also won't be receiving any SAG nominations either, same situation happened with Django Unchained last year.

kim, which us why my Oscar hopes about this film are not great right now. I know I'm a gloom and doom type but these awards are so ridiculous sometimes. How can you vote for the year's best when the year isn't over? Why this rush to get nominations announced? Didn't SAG used to nominate later than this? God, I have a feeling DiCaprio is going to be snubbed again and we fans will have to suffer from more idiotic "Were's my Oscar?" Leo memes. Hopefully WOW will get a best picture nomination.

I completely feel you, piglet. I honestly wish the stupid and overused 'Leo is so desperate for an Oscar, where is Leo's Oscar, hahaha Leo doesn't have an Oscar, why doesn't he have an Oscar yet, when will he finally will an Oscar?' talk would die already. I was hoping a nomination for him could happen because then everyone could atleast shut up for awhile and just be glad he got nominated again, but I'm afraid things are looking iffy now for him. It sucks because these are the best reviews he has gotten for a performance in a long time, probably since The Departed and people are saying it's a career best performance. Add in the fact this movie is going to be divisive and it doesn't help his chances. The ceremony isn't until freakin March, but so many films released late in the season get the shaft because the critics and voting bodies just have to have such a 'FIRST!' mentality...

@ Kim, if they keep up with the need to be first, they'll end up giving out awards in July. Like how Christmas ads never used to begin until after Thanksgiving and now begin in October! My only hope is that DiCaprio gets a GG and maybe BAFTA and then, since Oscar voting is later, is sneak in. His history with awards is so weird. He's had career as long as some so-called veterans, gotten huge box office without doing a sequel or comic book character, been in 2best picture winners and umpteenth best picture nominees, been lauded for performances, yet his only major award is a GG.

BAFTA is a strong possibility, because so far I've seen nothing but praise about WOWS and Leo from BAFTA members who have seen it at screenings. Also, an interesting fact, the 2 times Leo has been nominated by them, were for Scorsese films: The Aviator & The Departed so that should bode well for his chances there. Leo will obviously get a Globe nomination for WOWS but there were reports the HFPA didn't like the movie and I have a feeling Bruce Dern may win for Nebraska. And I think the problem with Leo is everytime he comes out with a movie, there's always strong competition(as per usual in the lead actor category) or an actor with a better narrative/more undeniable performance.

piglet (hi!), kim In my mind, BAFTA is even more difficult for Best Actor, because Idris Elba is also in the mix, especially due to recent events.
The early voting for SAG etc. was a chain reaction from the Oscar dates being moved back a couple of years ago. The Oscar people wanted the Golden Globes awards to have no effect on the oscar nominations, so they moved their nomination deadline before the GG ceremony, thereby diminishing its worth. They gave an excuse that they wanted the award season shortened, but in fact what they did was limit the time for viewing films for nominations and increase the boring, long-ass period between nominations and ceremony. At least, that's how I remember it.

Hi Will! This is why I don't take these awards seriously. Rather than being about quality, it's about timing and politics and who Weinstein is pushing. It's so ridiculous. And then they wonder why no one watches the Oscar telecast [rolls eyes].

will- Oh yeah I totally forgot about Idris Elba. I think Leo still has a chance to be nominated by BAFTA, but a win obviously isn't happening. I'm thinking Chiwetel Ejiofor will win for 12 Years As A Slave. Still, I was hoping Leo could atleast score a nomination but it's looking less likely :/ We'll see how awards season turns out..

I would love to see Leo win an Oscar, but I doubt he will. Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) and Bruce Dern (Nebraska) are the ones to beat.

Agreed. Robert Redford also has a good shot. This year's Best Actor lineup is too packed for Leo to get in but I hope he can still sneak in last minute if some are really passionate about his performance.
