#WolfOfWallStreet was insane! @leodicaprio blew the walls off the theater. @jonahhill killed it. Scorsese rocks my world again!

THE WOLF OF WALL STREET: exhilarating. #oneWordReview
Jesse Warren @jesse_Warren
The Wolf of Wall Street was a lot of fun. Scorcese's best directing in over a decade, And DiCaprio's best performance ever.
Lee Goldberg @leegoldberg
Loved WOLF OF WALL STREET. Unexpectedly, hilariously funny. Who knew Leonardo DiCaprio could do physical comedy?
scott vener @brokemogul
Wolf of Wall Street is by far the best movie of the year. #NoQuestion

The Wolf of Wall Street is Scorsese's real return to form since Goodfellas. Prieto also rocked it, looks incredible.

"vested" how? They work for a rival campaign? Must be for a film looking to get into Best Actor, then, as DiCaprio is the one being brought down by this source. They are high on the film and Hill. nas, thanks for the wrap article. Figures Scorsese would stumble on money related topics.

So very true, "vested" in attempting to put forth the mindset their 'client' is more worthy of BA nod than DiCaprio.
As the one review said , which is true to the book, the film takes Jordan on the following path , and to suggest that there is no change in DiCaprio's performance... is just one note throughout as this progression takes place is ludricous . Scorsese has never been drawn to films that put forth as their anti hero/villan a one dimensional character
That bit of news......like the earlier bit of news via Wells and the recent Page Six article ...... all from unnamed sources.....are to me are attempts to offset the loud positive buzz bubbling up from recent screenings
Are all going to like the film or performances ? No But in these cases , to me , it reeks of inept card players who too early on clearly 'show their hand'

I find it suspicious just right after it got huge buzz from the screenings and articles were being made about how it has a great chance to receive Oscar nominations as well as Leo and then suddenly unnamed sources claim they heard something bad about it or something negative. Obviously not everyone has to like this movie and not everybody will but the ones trying to take this one down are so vague with their criticisms. Also last year there was a rumor the HFPA disliked Django Unchained or something and then that went on to win 2 Golden Globes. I'll try not to trust all this negative buzz because Django Unchained was considered to be a disaster all year because of bad reports on it and whether one likes that film or not, it did go on to win 2 Oscars..

peanut, kim I agree but I can't really blame the publicists for their tactics. That's their job and this is how the game is played. It's just more common to see negative campaign targeted at a film, rather than an actor from a film. That bit of news......like the earlier bit of news via Wells and the recent Page Six article ...... all from unnamed sources.....are to me are attempts to offset the loud positive buzz bubbling up from recent screenings You forgot Friedman...

This isn't surprising. We already knew that this film was going to be divisive. Some critics will not be able to handle it. We pretty much knew that a year ago. The subject matter invites that kind of divisiveness. There is gonna be someone who reacts like the critic Dana Stevens from Slate Magazine:

Dana Stevens hasn't really liked any recent Scorsese film, so perhaps her reaction was expected.

WillYes, I well understand that each of these people have a 'purpose' for why they are saying what they are saying, and is all part of the true underbelly of award season which has nothing to do with rewarding excellence in artistry. I must have missed the Friedman comment , though I gather I didn't miss much Thanks for more screening comments. . Sirki Yes, I well accept , that is true with all films, that not all will have positive reactions to "Wolf" the film /performances I can well accept comments such as Dana's , in her perception the film doesn't work , while for others it may work. She has a right to state how she felt after viewing . However, there is a difference between stating your perception of a film/performance versus very obvious attempts to "water down" the heat that "Wolf" is receiving from recent screenings by throwing out comments such as "these are actors" who are just giddy with getting to see a film early and be in a room with big stars" so their 'perceptions' have no value . Personally I don't value Dana's comments anymore so than I do attendees of these screenings. No one be they an actor , critic, or just typical movie viewer enters a theater "empty handed' , we all arrive carrying within us our own personal baggage which forms our perception that a film is good, entertaining, a dud . The revies of critics no more represent an 'absolute truth' than my perception of a film does , each of our perceptions only represents the 'truth' of how we felt about a film /our mindset regarding it.

That's nice Peanut. At 85 David Ketchum represents the older Hollywood, that could have been repulsed by some of the content.

Yes, that's the age group that I was most concerned about how they would react , especially since most of the Academy voters are in the over 60 group
