I think the following more or less proves the IMDb poster is full of it:

thanks, nas
Isn't it weird that there weren't any test screenings done all these past months? I was expecting the first one back in June. Could it be that Scorsese held on to the film for as long as he could, so as to limit the changes that could be requested otherwise, had there been more time?

This guy (who has attended other screenings in the past) tweeted:

I wouldn't trust that guy. There are plenty of people claiming to have seen stuff they haven't. I've asked him a couple of questions to find out if he actually knows.

That test screening had to be legit, considering Terrence Winter and his wife watched a screening of it last Monday: "By the way, the Winter family could have an interesting awards season with dueling contenders as husband Terence Winter (supporting his wife at the premiere) wrote the screenplay for Paramount’s The Wolf Of Wall Street which director Martin Scorsese is hurriedly trying to ready for a December release despite rumors that it might not make the date (originally it was set for November 15 but that was scrapped) due to extensive post-production. Winter told me he and Rachel actually saw the film Monday night and currently it is just under three hours and Scorsese is continuing to edit. He said he expects it will be out this year just in time for the Oscar race and signaled out star Leonardo DiCaprio and supporting actor Jonah Hill for particular praise. McConaughey also has a role in the film. Winter says he wrote the script in 2007, just before starting to create his hit HBO series, Boardwalk Empire on which Scorsese serves as an Executive Producer and won an Emmy directing the pilot." www.deadline.com/2013/10/james-schamus-focus-features-era-celebrates-last-hurrah-with-dallas-buyers-club-premiere-at-academy/

thanks, kim. If the film is still "just under three hours", they still have a lot of work. I expect another test screening this week.

When post-production wraps up in the end of November, I think it could be worth the effort to try and get a screening of it set up at Dubai International Film Festival starting Dec. 6th. Riza Aziz is based in London, but he has contacts in the Arab world.
The main reason fot it is, that it is important for the film to be screened if you want early word out. Sending out screeners is in the same ballpark and is obviously also important.

sikri, I'm assuming you're talking getting "early word out" for oscar-seeking purposes. In that case, I think appearing at an international festival such as the Dubai one would be easy for the film -- Aziz or no Aziz -- since any festival would jump at the chance to premiere the new Scorsese film even one day before the regular opening date. However, I imagine various screenings in the LA and NY would be way more practical, than sending Scorsese and co to promote the film at a festival abroad where few Academy voters would be found. A good idea for international exposure would be to go to London for special screenings. As for screeners, I don't expect the studio to send any before the holidays. I may be wrong, but who would risk having a good-quality copy of the film popping up online before the theatrical release?
So... imo, best method would be to spend December doing a couple of "select press" screenings, a few industry screenings with Q&A (Hill would be good at that) and then send screeners right about Christmas, when most voters have some time to watch the movies.

Good to know Peanut. Hopefully it won't be too exclusive. Having some carefully selected critics there would be a good idea. You have to start building buzz in advance.
Will It's already too late to be in the competition for the guild awards. Submissions for Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards has already closed. So that's too late. DGA starts voting on the 3rd of December. I don't think his fellow director's are gonna forget Marty, but if they don't get the opportunity to see it, they don't have a choice. The producer's starts voting for PGA at the same time.
The Academy members looks at the nominees for the guilds and are very influenced by them. That's why it is very important to get in there.

peanut, thanks for the news! Hopefully we'll hear something out of that screening.
sikri, it might be too late for SAG, but maybe they have submitted the film anyway, even if they can't screen it on time. I think the SAG people have until Dec. 9 to send in nominations. As for DGA, I'm sure they'll get to see the film.

SAG voters are not gonna vote for it unless they have seen it. It's the same case as Django Unchained last year. In principle it was eligible, but the voters didn't get to see it before voting began. So they didn't vote for it. And that's only if it has been submitted for consideration in the first place.
