Loved its mixture of playful and melancholic: up until Scarlett's last smile, the mystery remains intact: is it all an act, is it all a "scene"?, or are they expressing their real emotions? It's also impossibly beautiful. The old-fashioned building with the dome are the famous Former New York City Police Headquarters, near the guys' hangouts in Mean Streets (it can actually be seen in some shots in that movie). The street in the first shot, with the Manhattan bridge in the background, is of course Washington Street, the same location for the iconic poster image of Once Upon a Time in America.

Nice put as always Gabriel! The way the camera enters Washington Street made me think of Sergio Leone and the "Noodles, I slipped" scene. The whole pessimistic feeling and the photography of the film made me also think of Michelangelo Antonioni.

In particular L'Eclisse, those encounters between Alain Delon and Monica Vitti...

How many is a couple? Hopefully more than two. He is doing Silence and The Irishman, but what about Sinatra? Marty you make me nervous by talking about retiring. It's understandable that you want to retire before you're 80, but please make those last films.

He was talking about retiring from feature films as early as 11 years ago, when Gangs was coming out. This time, it feels like it might be happening. Silence may be the last he does for him, and the Irishman the last he does for De Niro.
