www.leveledmag.com/2013/01/a-martin-scorsese-exhibit/www.deutsche-kinemathek.de/de/ausstellungen/martin-scorseseA MARTIN SCORSESE EXHIBIT''Martin Scorsese’s cinematic handwriting is permanently etched into our common rib. It is indelibly scrawled—understood as simply a given. To untangle his contributions from the thicket of the poem of cinema would be virtually impossible. He is as much an auteur as an archeologist, as much a pupil as a priest in the church of the New York story. In celebration of Scorsese’s lifelong passion for film, The Deutsche Kinemathek Museum in Berlin has compiled a major exhibition dedicated to the veteran director. Touted as the first of its kind in the world, the exhibit boasts items drawn from Scorsese’s extensive personal archive including intimate photos as well as both private and professional ephemera. The well-worn boxing gloves and trunks from Raging Bull, other famous props and costumes, vintage movie posters, hand-drawn storyboards, scripts ornamented with notes and even his parent’s kitchen table are on display now through May 12, 2013. Scorsese himself even lends his voice to the proceedings. He narrates the museum’s audio commentary for the retrospective. Moreover, not only does the show chronicle the filmmaker’s achievements in storytelling, editing and cinematography but it also pays tribute to his tireless efforts to preserve international cinema heritage.'' www.thewrap.com/culture/article/martin-scorsese-deliver-2013-jefferson-lecture-humanites-78181Martin Scorsese Becomes First Filmmaker to Deliver Jefferson Lecture in the Humanites''Martin Scorsese has been tapped to deliver the 2013 Jefferson Lecture in the Humanities. The Oscar-winning director of "The Departed" and "Raging Bull" will hold forth on his career as one of the foremost chroniclers of Catholic guilt, violence and criminality in the annual talk sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Scorsese is the first filmmaker to get the honor, a prestigious forum that in the past has drawn such leading figures in the arts and academia as Toni Morrison, Robert Penn Warren and Harvard University President Drew Gilpin Faust. It carries with it a $10,000 honorarium. "Martin Scorsese is a scholar of, advocate for, and icon of American cinema,” said NEH Chairman Jim Leach in a statement. “He is the first filmmaker designated as a Jefferson Lecturer, but he follows in the tradition of earlier speakers like John Updike, Barbara Tuchman, and Arthur Miller in revealing a profound understanding and empathy for the human condition.” Scorsese will present the lecture on April 1 at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Scorsese has directed and produced more than 50 films, including such classics as "Goodfellas," "Mean Streets" and "Taxi Driver." He is currently working with Leonardo DiCaprio on "The Wolf of Wall Street," which will tell the true story of a New York stockbroker who becomes embroiled in a securities fraud case.''

There's another video on the Berlin exhibition. The whole concept looks awesome. Any Berliners (or not) who visited it? youtu.be/M_0H3qWTWXE

I'm thrilled about the Scorsese audio-guide and hoping there'll be an exhibition catalogue to purchase. Also, I'm plain excited about being front and close to some of Scorsese's most cherished personal belongings (posters, props and the like).
