How can u tell if someone is Italian-American? Especially as an extra. Its Hollywood. Everyone can be ""Italian-American"". No?

No, actually. I've worked for years as an actor, and even casting calls for extras are very specific in what they are looking for. People may go through hair and makeup, but when you're dealing with potentially hundreds of people you want to minimize the number of hair and make-up artists you're hiring and the amount of time and money you're spending there. And even if you don't see a face for a long time on screen, it still helps create the reality of the world. I imagine they're looking for specific coloring and specific facial features and probably specific body types. Casting is weird, and important to creating the reality of the world.

Avoid Paterson’s Great Falls historic district on Sunday unless you want to take the risk of bumping into Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro.

The two legendary actors will be cruising the Silk City’s streets on Sunday as they film scenes for Martin Scorsese’s much-anticipated mob movie, “The Irishman,” according to city officials.

It’s not clear whether any other members of the star-studded cast – which includes Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, Bobby Cannavale and Ray Romano – will be in Paterson for the filming, officials said.

But one of the vice presidents of the film company, Villa Roma Productions, was captivated by the city’s architecture when he watched the critically acclaimed Jim Jarmusch movie “Paterson.”

“He loved the old buildings,” said Marcia Sotorrio, the city’s cultural affairs director.

The movie’s producers are paying the city $1,600 in fees for Sunday’s shoot as stipulated under Paterson’s film ordinance, Sotorrio said. On top of that, the movie will be picking up the tab for coverage by off-duty Paterson police officers needed to control traffic and provide security, officials said.

“The Irishman” is scheduled for a second day of filming in Paterson on October 1, Sotorrio said.

Though city officials were anticipating an appearance by Pacino and Robert De Niro, the two did not actually make their way into the city on Sunday, said Marcia Sotorrio, the city's cultural affairs director.

"They were not here today," Sotorrio said Sunday afternoon after she confirmed with her contact with the film crew.

Filming on Sunday took place from 5 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., she said. The crews departed shortly after that.

"They did all exterior shots - from the inside of the car looking out," Sotorrio said.
