They're not mentioning De Niro anymore. I really hope they team up again.

I'm very glad De Niro still seems to be part of this. Scorsese is getting older, he is getting older, so there aren't going to be many more opportunities to unite them with DiCaprio on a project.
And I think DiCaprio really wants that collaboration with De Niro, directed by Scorsese. I guess the same can be said about his upcoming pairing with Pacino.
I personally would like to see De Niro as Hale, even if the role doesn't seem like a slam dunk in terms casting, you know, east coast De Niro, at least on paper. But if you pair those two in a Scorsese picture, they have to be the main (male) protagonists, right? Otherwise, what's the point? But who knows from what angle Eric Roth has tackled the story.
(BTW, look out for Alessandro Nivola for something in this, maybe the husband of Mollie Burkhart? I think he entered the orbit of De Niro. But I'm just guessing.)
And it's true, I can't see 75 year old De Niro on a horse, but that's a minor problem to deal with, I think.
De Niro gave an interview a couple of days ago (Big Issue North). Here's an excerpt:
He says he never gives up looking for great roles and is actually quite excited about something he has on the horizon although he won’t say what it is. “There is one. I don’t want to talk about it because usually when I talk about these things, they don’t happen. It’s happened three or four times – you talk it away, then somehow they don’t materialise. I’m superstitious. This time I don’t want to say anything. There are so many things you have to do to get it done. I don’t want to jinx it. It’s not a role I’ve wanted, or I’ve been waiting to play. Once I discovered this character, a historical character, I knew this is something I wanted to commit to and get in to.”
I wondered what project/role he was referring to.
Something with David O. Russell maybe, who these days seems to be at every event De Niro shows up? (I think they have become pretty close in recent years. If he adores De Niro so much, why not give him a true leading role, not just the third biggest supporting part from left?!)
Russell was working on a biopic of Buddy Cianci, the late Prince of Providence, some time ago, with De Niro also part of it, producing or something. Maybe they would tackle that story, I thought, just fictionalizing it (Cianci was only two years older than De Niro).
Or he was referring to that Ferrari project that may be something real or not (last thing I read was that Christopher Wilkinson of Nixon fame was writing it, with De Niro's (and Pacino's) go-to guy these days Barry Levinson directing for HBO, I think.)
Now, after his remarks in Marrakesh, he was probably referring to this project. Maybe his hatred for the Big Orange One inspires him to dig deep into the heart of american greed and, you know, how the west was won.

With Silence, the upcoming The Irishman and now (probably) 'Flower Moon', I haven't been as excited for Scorsese's projects in years. (Nothing to do with the actual quality, just a question of taste.)

Yes, it was disappointing there was nothing about 'Flower Moon' during Cannes, but not that unexpected maybe considering The Irishman's long editing process. I hope it happens early next year. Ferretti already worked on it, Roth obviously too, so there are some signs indicating Scorsese is serious about it. Great subject matter with a potentially great part for De Niro if he stays on board (fingers crossed). Regarding The Irishman's premiere, I was considering flying down to Venice if it shows up there, but at the moment I rather think it's going to be a NYFF WP. Venice would be better for the Netflix guys, with all the international press and so, plus maybe Marty is willing to compete there (in contrast to Cannes). But for now NY seems more likely I think, it's a NY movie (shot there), there's his friend Kent Jones, he would have more time to finish it (not much though) etc. Possible?

I figured when news went out in April that DiCaprio was looking for a new project to shoot that KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON wasn’t shooting this summer. I hope Scorsese & Leo do make it and I hope it’s not a Netflix release. Maybe the Scorsese film or 2021?

Maybe Scorsese finishing up THE IRISHMAN and being ready to shoot another movie is one of the behind-the-scenes reasons why Leonardo DiCaprio so suddenly dropped out of doing Guillermo Del Toro's remake of NIGHTMARE ALLEY. Either way, I'm glad this will be going straight to theaters!

It sure seems as if there's something happening. DiCaprio dropping out of Nightmare Alley, and a few days later we get a distribution deal for Killers of the Flower Moon. Seemingly out of nowhere. At the moment they're still researching KOTFM, according to Leo_The_Last's tweet, so don't expect them to start filming anytime soon. Maybe this fall. I wonder if Scorsese will have to do an awards campaign/promotion tour for The Irishman, and what that could mean for KOTFM's schedule.
