I don't think DiCaprio has had a lot of Oscar directed projects. The Wolf of Wall Street was pretty much the opposite of that, and J.Edgar and Revolutionary Road are pretty much the only ones of those kinds of projects. He could have a cameo, but I just think he is visiting out of pure interest. The Revenant has a lot of breaks in its shooting schedule anyway, so he probably has some time on his hands. (Even though Rihanna is supposedly giving him a handful)

I'd say The Aviator, Blood Diamond, Revolutionary Road, J. Edgar & The Great Gatsby - which was originally set for December 2012) all fall under the category of "Reaching for an Oscar". The guy is hungry for one. I hope DiCaprio & Scorsese work together again but I'd much prefer it's on one of Scorsese's current passion projects.

I can't see the 1st pic. As for the other 2. Is that part of the filming or they just decided to get in the freezing cold (?) water? Who knows...

In one of the above pix, I think Scorsese is introducing his daughter to Tadanobu Asano, although IMDb lists him as 5'10½" so who the hell knows.

Argh. The camera is just blocked enough so you can't tell if they're shooting on film or digitally.
Do we know yet? I know Rodrigo Prieto convinced Scorsese to mostly shoot 35mm on "The Wolf of Wall Street" & only use an Alexa for night scenes. They COULD be using a similar mixed camera package for Silence but it is a significantly lower budgeted movie. Has there been a confirmation yet from Scorsese or Prieto?
